PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – Space Base Delta 1 and the Peterson Chapel community invite members of the media to attend the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly completed, space-themed Chapel playground at Peterson Space Force Base on Oct. 16 at noon.
The nearly $800,000 community enhancement project represents the culmination of a three-year collaborative effort to modernize family support amenities across the installation. Driven by findings from a 2023 Chapel study aimed at better serving base families, the initiative brought together key partner organizations across the installation and regional mission partners, including the 21st Comptroller Squadron, 21st Contracting Squadron, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron, Space Base Delta 1, and U.S. Space Command.
The space-themed play area is designed as a tangible tribute to the missions carried out at Peterson SFB. The playground will offer military children a place to "play Space Force" just like their parents while underscoring the vital role strong military families play in mission readiness.
In order to register for access to the installation, media representatives interested in attending must RSVP to Space Base Delta 1 Public Affairs at SBD1.PA@spaceforce.mil Please identify specific names and contact numbers for media professionals who plan to attend no later than noon MST on Oct. 15.
Media who have RSVP’d should meet at the Peterson SFB West Gate Visitor Center located at 1334 Stewart Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80914, by 11 a.m. on the date of the event. From there media will be escorted via government vehicles on base. Due to current base security measures, media who have not RSVP’d will not be granted access.
