Newsweek Ranks PeaceHealth St. John Among Nation's Best For Maternity Care (Photo) -07/17/20
PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center is one of only four Washington hospitals to earn an "A" grade in today's Newsweek magazine's report on the "Best Maternity Care Hospitals in 2020." PeaceHealth St. John is the only Medical Center is southwest Washington to earn the "A" grade. To prepare the report, Newsweek partnered with The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that reports on the safety and quality performance of U.S. health care facilities. The grades were assigned with the help of a panel of national experts who advised Leapfrog on standards for excellence in maternity care — including low rates of C-section, episiotomy (an incision to enlarge the vaginal opening for childbirth), and early elective delivery — and follow important protocols to protect moms and babies, among other measures.
PeaceHealth St. John's Birth Center delivers nearly 800 babies each year. Each of our 12 Birth Center suites offers families plenty of room and privacy. Each private suite is approximately 250 square feet, with comfortable furniture including a reclining chair that converts to a sleeper. The Birth Center is designed using the LDRP model, which means new moms and their families are able to experience the labor, delivery, and recovery process all in the same room, with family gathered around for support, without having to be moved throughout the hospital. The Birth Center also provides two large C-section delivery rooms, two post-partum/recovery rooms, an enlarged family waiting area, and a special care nursery. It's an excellent choice for your growing family!
