Pacific University Recognizes Outstanding Faculty and Staff at Annual Awards Ceremony (Photo) - 05/10/19

FOREST GROVE -- Pacific University honored an array of employees for outstanding service during its 2019 Faculty & Staff Honors & Awards Ceremony held May 8 on the university's Forest Grove Campus.

Longtime economics professor Phil Ruder received Pacific's Distinguished University Professor Award. Ruder joined the faculty in 1994 and will complete his 25th year of service at the conclusion of the academic year.

Other notable faculty honorees include:

  • Gail Aamodt (Dental Hygiene Studies) - President's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
  • Amanda Stead (Communication Sciences & Disorders) - President's Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching
  • Michelle Larkins (Center for a Sustainable Society) - Outstanding Contribution to the University Award
  • Wilber Ramirez Rodriguez (Dental Hygiene Studies) - University Diversity and Justice Award
  • Nicola Carter (Pharmacy) - Provost's Junior Faculty Award for Teaching
  • Marina Suzuki (Pharmacy) - Provost's Junior Faculty Award for Scholarship
  • Anita Cleven (Pharmacy) - Provost's Junior Faculty Award for Service

A number of staff members were also recognized for exceptional service, including:

  • Danny Kambel (Intercollegiate Athletics) - Dedication to Students Award
  • Adam Fein (Marketing & Communications) - Splendid Audacity Award for innovation
  • Breanna Hugon (Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Research) - Boxer Spirit Award for teamwork
  • Suzie Schwab (School of Occupational Therapy) - Outstanding Leadership Award

Additionally, recently retired employee Lois Hornberger and her husband Dan Hornberger '69 were honored with the university's Community Service Award, bestowed upon an individual or individuals who have significantly contributed to the cultural or educational development of the university or the City of Forest Grove.

The ceremony also noted multiple retirements and milestone terms of service. Pacific will hold its spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 18, during which time retiring faculty will be recognized. Complete 2019 Pacific faculty & staff honors can be found online.
