Low water levels prompt closure of Yale Park boat ramp
ARIEL, Wash., (November 5, 2026) — Dry conditions in the region have led to low water levels on all three of PacifiCorp’s reservoirs that are a part of our Lewis River hydroelectric project. Beginning November 8, the Yale Reservoir elevation will drop below a safe, operable level for the Yale Park boat launch, and the boat ramp will be closed until further notice.
Each fall PacifiCorp is required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to provide minimum water flows to support Chinook salmon spawning downstream of Merwin Dam. With current inflows remaining low, water must be released from the company’s reservoirs to meet the flow requirement. Until significant seasonal rain returns and reservoirs can be refilled, all of PacifiCorp’s boat ramps on our Merwin, Yale and Swift reservoirs are closed until further notice.
