Construction At Speelyai Bay Park Leads To Some Partial Closures - 09/30/26

Construction at Speelyai Bay Park leads to some partial closures


ARIEL, Wash. (September 30, 2026) — PacifiCorp is rebuilding the seawall at its Speelyai Bay Park on the Lewis River because of long-term wear from waves and wind. This work is expected to begin October 5, resulting in a partial closure of the main parking area and complete closure of the park’s picnic area for the duration of the project. The boat ramp will remain open during construction.

 

This construction will continue through April 2027, so visitors should plan their trips accordingly. The public will need to use the upper parking areas once the main asphalt parking area is full and then walk on the marked pedestrian path along the road, as the trail from the upper parking areas into the picnic area will be closed. PacifiCorp requests visitors to exercise caution when driving between the parking areas, especially when pedestrians are on the temporary roadway path. We appreciate the public’s patience as we make important park improvements.
