Swift Forest Camp Boat Ramp To Close Beginning This Weekend - 08/11/26

Swift Forest Camp boat ramp to close beginning this weekend

 
 COUGAR, Wash. (August 11,2026) — Dry conditions in the Pacific Northwest continue to impact water levels at PacifiCorp’s hydropower operations and recreational sites on the Lewis River. Beginning August 15, the Swift Forest Camp boat ramp will close for the remainder of the season. Camp boat ramp will close for the remainder of the season. 

 

While the Swift Forest Camp campground and day use area will remain available, dispersed shoreline camping on Swift Reservoir will also close for the season August 14.

 

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licenses for PacifiCorp reservoirs requires the company to maintain certain water flows downstream of Merwin Dam to protect and support federally listed fish species, including Chinook and Coho salmon and Steelhead trout. To meet these flow requirements and manage dry conditions, PacifiCorp must now draw water from Swift Reservoir.
