Pacific Power Changing Media Contact Number - 06/18/20

Pacific Power changing media contact number

Dear Media Outlet:

Trying not to bury the lede: Pacific Power is changing the main media contact number effective July 1, 2020.

The new number is 503-813-6018, a switch from an 800 number that we have used for decades.

Our pledge to get back to you within an hour remains the same.

You may have noticed that recent news releases we sent out had the new number. In conversations with reporters over the last few weeks, we have told callers about the upcoming change. The new number as well as other ways to contact us are now on the Newsroom page of pacificpower.net.

Why are making this change after all these years? Trying to keep costs low for customers. When we started the toll free line for media in the 1980s, the telecommunications industry was much different than today. Many smaller outlets either did not allow long distance calls or had complicated processes to use long distance lines. As a convenience, we offered the media line.

But much has changed. Long distance calling is not the challenge it once was and there are other ways to contact us, email being the main one. So after looking at the situation, we saw we could save customers some money by reducing the company’s overhead while not harming the media’s ability to get in touch.

Please make a note of the new number, 503-813-6018. For several weeks the old 800 number will refer you to the new number, but after that the notice will disappear.

The hotline is the best way to contact us for a general inquiry. It is monitored 24/7/365 with one of us always on duty. Contacting any of us directly is fine, but it may result in a delay in response. When we are not on call, we are taking care of other either issues or may be out of touch (or even, possibly, on vacation.)

Thanks for all the ways you keep our communities informed. Don’t hesitate to call the new number if you have any questions.

Regards,
