Sam Carter named regional business manager for Pacific Power in Douglas and Coos counties

ROSEBURG--Roseburg native Sam Carter has been named regional business manager for Pacific Power in Douglas and Coos counties.

Pacific Power serves more than 60,000 customers between the two counties. Carter will work with community leaders in government, business and the nonprofit sector on energy issues, but also help improve the communities in general.

"I grew up in Roseburg and except for a short stint away to attend college, I've essentially lived here my whole life," said Carter, who worked as government relations manager and sales and marketing director at Sutherlin-based Orenco Systems before joining Pacific Power. "I absolutely love this area and I'm very much looking forward to getting more involved in the communities that Pacific Power serves and helping them grow and thrive."

Carter belongs to Rotary and is on the board of directors for the Umpqua Basin Water Association. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1999 with a degree in crop and soil science. He began work at Orenco, which designs and markets innovative wastewater collection and treatment technologies, in 2001. He and his wife Julie love to travel and are busy raising two teenage daughters who are very active going to school and playing volleyball. Off the job, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hunting, fishing, and golfing.
