Beaverton, Ore., August 29, 2024 – Parkinson's Resources of Oregon (PRO) will host its annual Sole Support for Parkinson’s Walk September 28th at Clark College, marking the 20th year of fundraising and awareness for the local Parkinson’s disease community – but the first year on the college campus.
The family friendly event connects people whose lives are impacted by a Parkinson’s diagnosis together with a caring and supportive community for a walk in the campus neighborhood to raise awareness about this neurodegenerative disease with no cure. Funds raised remain in the local community to help people living with the disease through Parkinson’s Resources (PRO) exercise, education, and wellness programs.
For Vancouver resident Marj Casswell, participating in Sole Support is a way that her family and friends can learn more about Parkinson’s disease and demonstrate support for Marj and her husband Walter. Marj is part of a local support group and is a champion for ensuring access to groups and education for people with Parkinson’s disease in Clark County.
“It is easy to feel alone and isolated when you are caring for someone with a chronic disease like Parkinson’s.” said Casswell. “I’m involved with Sole Support so that more people in our community might learn about and participate in PRO’s helpful resources.”
Casswell will be at the Vancouver Walk – look for their team, The Friday Brunch Bunch.
