Portland Parks & Recreation is modifying activities to focus on indoor activities as feasible, low-exertion arts and crafts, board games, etc. Unfortunately the Trail Blazers clinic intended for Woodlawn Park at lunchtime today is CANCELED, as well as an event with the Rose City Rollers at Creston Park. Portland Parks & Recreation is closely keeping an eye on air quality in the Portland metro area, and working with health authorities to ensure our participants - particularly our most vulnerable populations, children, the elderly, and those with identified respiratory issues - are in a safe and healthy environment.
We also note that all parents can and should make their decisions based upon their own evaluations of the area’s air quality, benefits, and potential risks of taking part in outdoor activities. Our goal as a Bureau is to try to maintain service levels for the families which do find their needs can best be met by participation. We recognize that some participation levels may be low.
If air quality moves into the “Very Unhealthy” range, as determined by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Portland Parks & Recreation may potentially cancel or postpone some activities. Changes will be posted on the Inclement Weather page and other portlandparks.org sites, on Facebook.com/PortlandParks, on Twitter @PDXParksandRec, and sent to local media outlets.
