Portland Firefighters Honor victims of 9/11 - 09/11/21

This morning on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 Portland firefighters held a ceremony at fire station 1 to remember the victims of 9/11. The event was live streamed for public viewing. Guest speakers were Portland Firefighters Association Vice President Jason Lehman, Deputy Chief Christine Artman, Portland Fire lieutenant Neil Martin and retired Firefighter Wes Loucks who are 2 of the 4 Portland firefighters who flew to New York after the tragic events to help FDNY Firefighters. Senior first officer Tiffany Vlasek American Airlines who was the pilot who flew our 4 firefighters to New York. The last speaker was NYPD officer Dante Messina who was there on the tragic day. The Portland Firefighter pipes and drums band along with Portland Police Highland Guard marched to the Waterfront Park seawall where they performed amazing grace with the historic Portland Fireboat Campbell water display in the background. This day also marks the retirement of the David Campbell fireboat which has protected the waterways of Portland since 1927. Portland Firefighters will never forget the innocent victims and brave heroes who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.
