PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College, in partnership with Comcast, is hosting a small, socially distanced event to provide Dell Chromebooks to PCC students. The event is in celebration of Comcast’s 10-year anniversary of its Internet Essentials program, which provides low-cost, high-speed internet for low‑income households.

WHO: The invite-only celebration will provide a time for PCC scholarship recipients to retrieve their Dell Chromebooks from Comcast, which donated the 250 computers to PCC students. While most of the devices will be mailed to students’ homes, a handful have made reservations to collect them in person. PCC’s Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Heather Lang and PCC Foundation Interim Executive Director Christina Kline will also be available at 10 a.m. for comments.

WHEN: 9 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Sept. 16.

WHERE: Quad area between Cascade Hall and the Student Union, Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus, 705 N Killingsworth St.

WHAT: This is an occasion to celebrate Comcast donating 250 Dell Chromebooks and to provide students an opportunity to retrieve their new computers. Students have reserved times to collect their Dell Chromebooks. Students will also have the opportunity to take photos and pick up free food from the Panther Pantry.

WHY: The event provides an opportunity for students to collect their Dell Chromebooks.
