The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) invites members of the media to a special Media Day tour of the Emergency Coordination Center (ECC) during the 2026 state-level exercise (SLE), Getting Through Lahar’d Times, which will be focused on exercising the newly adopted Oregon Disaster Recovery Plan.

This guided tour will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the ECC in action during the Lahar'd Times exercise. Media will have the opportunity to see how Oregon coordinates response and recovery efforts during a large-scale volcanic event, including interagency communication, resource management and operational decision-making.

The 2026 state-level exercise is designed to advance Oregon’s established preparedness priorities outlined in the 2025 Integrated Preparedness Plan (IPP). These exercises help emergency management partners statewide assess progress toward key preparedness goals in a realistic, scenario-based environment.
