Oregon Lottery to Present S&S Market with $10,000 Selling Bonus Check
Beaverton man won $1 million Mega Millions prize

WHO: Oregon Lottery officials

WHEN: Noon, Thursday, July 11, 2019

WHERE: S&S Market, 2831 E. Main St., Hillsboro

WHAT: Oregon Lottery officials will present a $10,000 selling bonus check to representatives of S&S Market for selling a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket. This is the second large Mega Millions prize awarded this year in Oregon. Oregon began offering Mega Millions in 2010. Lottery officials will also be handing out a limited number of free promotional Scratch-it tickets at the event.

BACKGROUND: Jose Martinez of Beaverton won $1 million playing Mega Millions after stopping at the S&S Market after work. Martinez put his tickets in the sun visor of his car, and when his wife used the car the unsigned tickets almost flew out. When Martinez returned from a business trip, his wife told him to scan the tickets and that’s when he realized he’d won $1 million. Martinez claimed his prize last month.

During the 2015-17 biennium more than $69 million Lottery dollars were directed to Washington County’s state parks, school districts, watershed enhancement projects and economic development. This winning ticket was purchased at a Washington County Oregon Lottery retailer.

VISUALS: Oregon Lottery officials will present an over-sized ceremonial check to representatives of S&S Market and will also distribute a limited amount of free promotional Scratch-it tickets to patrons of the store.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned nearly $12 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit www.oregonlottery.org
