OHA, Clackamas County health experts to discuss measles outbreak during virtual media briefing today - 08/08/24

PORTLAND, Ore. — Infectious disease experts from Oregon Health Authority and Clackamas County will hold a virtual media briefing at 11 a.m. today – Thursday, Aug. 8 – to provide an update on the measles outbreak that has affected more than 20 people in at least three counties.

Paul Cieslak, M.D., OHA medical director for communicable diseases and immunizations, and Sarah Present, M.D., health officer at the Clackamas County Public Health Division, will provide facts about measles, including current case counts, symptoms and transmission, and go over the state’s and counties’ response to the outbreak. They’ll also discuss how people can prevent spread of the virus as students head back to school this fall.
