Oregon Adjutant General Visits 2-162 Infantry Regiment (Photo) - 04/07/19
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Maj. Gen. Michael E. Stencel, Adjutant General, Oregon, and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Foesch, Senior Enlisted Leader of the Oregon Army National Guard, spent part of the day visiting troops in Springfield, Oregon, April 7, 2019.
During their visit, Oregon Army Sgt. Samantha Roberts, assigned to the Springfield Recruiting Detachment was recognized as the Oregon Army National Guard’s top recruiter for the quarter. In addition to being acknowledged as the top recruiter, Roberts is scheduled to attend the Infantry Advanced Leaders Course, having already completed the ‘11B’ Infantry training course.
“Recruiting is up in Springfield thanks to the dedication of our Soldiers, the local community and the benefits of free college tuition,” said Maj. Stephen Bomar, director of public affairs for the Oregon Military Department.
Six Soldiers with 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment were also acknowledged for their hard work and dedication by Stencel and Foesch. Among the six Soldiers recognized, two of 1st. Lt. Silas Heisler’s Soldier’s were highlighted during the visit. “I am proud of my Soldier’s who were recognized today for all they do,” he said. “This unit is like family!”
The 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment is scheduled to mobilize to multiple locations later this fall as they continue to train throughout the summer.
