The City of Portland Proclaims September 7th, Keep Portland Weird Day!

Portland Weird Fest at Oaks Park, September 7th at 12:30pm—The City of Portland has proclaimed September 7th, 2024, as “Keep Portland Weird Day,” a celebration dedicated to honoring the city's unique and imaginative spirit. Join us for Portland Weird Fest at Oaks Park, where we’ll commemorate this special day and present the official proclamation to Terry Currier, celebrated as "the father of Portland’s weird movement."

Portland Weird Fest will be a vibrant showcase of everything that makes Portland wonderfully quirky. Attendees will experience a day full of eccentric performances, inventive art exhibits, and characters—all reflecting the creative spirit that defines our city.

Highlights of the Event:

  • Proclamation Ceremony: At 12:30 PM, we will present the “Keep Portland Weird Day” proclamation to Terry Currier, whose dedication to fostering Portland's distinctive culture has made a significant impact on our community.
  • Unique Performances: Enjoy a diverse lineup of unconventional acts that capture Portland's eclectic charm.
  • Whimsical Booths of Art, Crafts and More: Browse through a marketplace featuring one-of-a-kind crafts, arts, get a weird tattoo, or an oracle reading.
  • Immersive Activities: From Weird Trivia, to Weird Bingo, to a Weird Pie Eating Contest to Weird Dog Art, you can become a part of the weird experience. 
  • Community Connection: Engage with fellow Portlanders who share a passion for the city’s weird and wonderful character.

This celebration is our way of embracing and honoring the creativity and individuality that make Portland a cultural beacon. We invite everyone to join us for this day of fun, creativity, and community.
