Oak Hill School Students Take Center Stage - 01/03/18

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: James Pearson Oak Hill School jpearson@oakhillschool.net 541-744-0954 x 105 Oak Hill School Students Take Center Stage The Oak Hill School Theater Department is proud to announce the debut of the newest dramatic work by brothers Robert and Timothy Turner, current 10th graders at the Eugene school. The play, simply titled "...A Play," is a meditation on writer's block, the creative process, and the often difficult and painful search for meaning. "...A Play" is not the Turners' first experience with acting or writing. Oak Hill School teachers work to nurture student creativity, and the Theater Department prides itself on bringing student work to fruition. This original piece, finding first life in Oak Hill School's Intensive Theater Class, started in the spring of 2017 when drama instructor Kitsann Means solicited scripts from her students. "I think the play really started to come together when we noticed that some of the characters seemed the same in unrelated scenes," explained Tim Turner. "And then we thought about actors playing multiple characters, and making that part of the play, too," added Robert. "One of the best parts of writing with my brother is that we can work on ideas all the time. We've written together as long as I can remember-- this is different, though, because the words we put on paper are brought to life, sometimes in ways we couldn't have foreseen." "...A Play" debuts for the general public on January 13th at 7pm with two additional performances on January 14, at 1:30pm and 7pm at the Lane Community College (LCC) Blue Door Theater. Admission is free, with donations accepted at the door. All proceeds go to supporting the OHS Theater Department. Approximate running time is 90 minutes and the work includes some mild on-stage violence.
