Following next of kin notifications, the deceased pedestrian has been identified as David VAN HORN, age 56, of Portland.

On October 29, 2016 at about 8:15PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian on Highway 99E MP 7 (near SE Park Ave in Milwaukie).

Preliminary investigation revealed a 56 year old man in a wheelchair began to cross Highway 99E (west to east) near Park Ave when he was struck by a southbound 1998 Chevrolet pickup. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, Leon M PANTOJA, age 36, of Milwaukie, was not injured.

The area the pedestrian attempted to cross is not well lit and was not at a designated crosswalk. The pedestrian was also wearing dark clothing.

OSP was assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The name of the deceased will be released once next of kin notifications have been made.
