News Release

Fatal Crash – Highway 101 – Lincoln County - 09/23/26

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. (23 September 2026) - On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 8:21 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 101 near milepost 122 in Lincoln County. OSP also received calls reporting a person walking in the roadway.

 

The preliminary investigation indicated that a gray Chevrolet Colorado, operated by Renee Ronilyn Wohlwend (61) of Lincoln City, was traveling southbound near Gleneden Beach when it struck a pedestrian, identified as Nicholas Ryan Perkins (41) of Portland, who was in or near the lane of travel. Perkins was subsequently struck by two additional vehicles, a southbound white Mercedes Sprinter van, operated by Gregory Lear Miller (34) of Flagstaff, Arizona, and a northbound blue Toyota Sequoia, operated by Michael Aaron Hadden (50) of Depoe Bay.

 

The pedestrian (Perkins) was declared deceased at the scene.

 

None of the involved drivers reported any injuries.

 

The operator of the Mercedes Sprinter van (Miller) was stopped and detained south of the crash location and taken into custody for failing to perform the duties of a driver.

 

The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.

 

OSP was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln City Police Department, Depoe Bay Fire District, Pacific West Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
