LANE COUNTY, Ore. (22 September 2026) - On Friday, September 18, 2026, at approximately 10:02 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 126W near milepost 33 in Lane County. 

The preliminary investigation indicated a red Subaru Forester, operated by Max Timothy Hill (48) of Newberg, was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a tree on the shoulder. 

The operator of the Subaru (Hill) was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

A seventeen-year-old male passenger was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.  

OSP was assisted by Western Lane EMS, Siuslaw Valley Fire Department, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
