Officer Involved Shooting – River Bend County Park – Linn County - 08/03/26

LINN COUNTY, Ore.  (3 August 26) – Highway 20 near River Bend County Park in Linn County is currently closed due to a police investigation. On Monday, August 3, 2026, at 7:25 p.m., Oregon State Police and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to Highway 20 near milepost 36 for a report of a motor vehicle crash and a disturbance involving a firearm. 

 

Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual armed with a handgun. During a confrontation, shots were fired.

 

The suspect was injured and is now in custody. There is no ongoing threat to the public. No officers were injured.

 

Investigators will be on scene overnight, and Highway 20 is expected to open at approximately 8 a.m.

 

The Albany Police Department is leading the investigation. Future updates will be released by the Albany Police Department or the Linn County District Attorney’s Office.
