News Release
UPDATE - Oregon State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting near Umapine - Umatilla County - 03/05/20

Law Enforcement is providing updated information in regards to the use of force incident in Umapine, OR.

On Monday, February 24, 2020 at approximately 11:44 P.M., Umatilla County Dispatch received a 911 call in regards to shots being fired in Umapine at 84876 Woodrow Street. 

A Umatilla County Sheriff's Deputy and Milton- Freewater Police Department Officer responded to the residence and were confronted at the door by Stacy Albert Clark (45) who was armed. Clark's weapon was recovered at the scene. 

The responding officers fired their weapons during the confrontation striking Clark. 

Clark was transported to an area hospital and remains in the ICU.

Responding Officers:

Umatilla County Deputy Jason Post (33).  Post started as a Reserve Deputy with Umatilla County in 2010 and was hired full time in December of 2013.

Milton-Freewater Police Officer James Farr (31).  Farr became a Police Officer in 2013 and was hired by Milton-Freewater in April of 2015.

Both officers remain on paid administrative leave pursuant to Senate Bill 111 and their respective department policies.

The major crime team detectives assigned to the case have completed interviews and are continuing to work together in order to get a complete case to the Umatilla County District Attorney for review.

On Monday, February 24, 2020 at approximately 11:44 P.M., Umatilla County Dispatch received a 911 call in regards to shots being fired in the Umapine area. 

A Umatilla County Sheriff's Deputy and Milton Freewater Police Department Officer responded to the area and were confronted by an armed individual outside the residence. Responding officers used force during the confrontation. 

The suspect was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the event.

In accordance with Senate Bill 111 the two involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

The investigation is being led by the Oregon State Police with the assistance of the Pendleton Police Department. The Umatilla County District Attorney's Office is overseeing the investigation and will release additional details as appropriate.
