OSP Seeking Public Assistance in Identifying Suspect(s) throwing Objects at Vehicles on I-5 near the I-205 NB Interchange (Photo) - 12/12/17

Since early September, OSP has responded to ten (10) separate reports of a variety of objects being thrown at passing motorists by unidentified individual(s) from a walkway adjacent to I-205. The area in questions is the Exit 289 I-5 SB which curves, goes underneath I-5, and becomes I-205 NB. The exit ramp is adjacent to a footpath that travels behind the Martinazzi Village apartments in Tualatin. There are multiple paths connecting to it which gives access to I-205 and I-5.

The items being thrown have ranged from apples, rocks, branches, logs and pumpkins. The descriptions of the individual(s) responsible have ranged from early teens to early twenties in age with a variety of different clothing descriptions. The items being thrown have hit passing vehicles causing damage, most recently as of today, with a large rock hitting the windshield of a motorist. To date, none of the victims have been injured and these incidents have not caused any crashes. On several of the incidents the suspect(s) were seen fleeing the area into nearby trees and/or up a hillside and out of sight.

Anyone with knowledge of these suspect(s) is encouraged to call the Oregon State Police NCC dispatch center at (503)375-3555 or (800)452-7888.
