Free First Day Hike At Fort Stevens State Park Jan. 1, 2024 -12/12/23
Astoria, Ore. – The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is partnering with America’s State Parks for free guided First Day Hikes in state parks on New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1.
Information about the hike at Fort Stevens State Park is below:
- Join us for a 2-mile hike around the perimeter of Coffenbury Lake. We should see wildlife and birds.
- Meet at 1 p.m. at the Coffenbury Lake north parking lot, 100 Peter Iredale Rd, Hammond.
- The trail is a natural surface on mostly flat ground with slight elevation changes.
- Leashed friendly dogs are welcome.
- Dress in layers with rain gear and gloves, wear sturdy shoes and bring water and snacks, as well as a camera or binoculars for wildlife viewing.

The $5 day-use parking fee is waived that day for all state parks that require a parking permit and are open.
