OPRD Now Accepting Proposals For Operating Smith Creek Village At Silver Falls State Park And Café - 03/10/21

SALEM, Oregon – The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will accept proposals for operating Smith Creek Village at Silver Falls, formerly known as Silver Falls Conference Center, and South Falls Lodge Café at Silver Falls State Park.  Businesses interested in this opportunity can check bit.ly/SmithCreekVillage for application packet information.

The previous concessionaire contract ended Dec. 1, 2020, and the village and café are temporarily closed. The new contract period will be available for approximately two years and may begin as early as mid-2021. During this time, OPRD will evaluate long-range visitor service needs and develop an ongoing strategy for operations and facility improvements for both the conference center and café.

Silver Falls State Park, located east of Salem, is approximately 9,000 acres and sees 1.3 million day-use visitors annually. The café is located inside the historic South Falls Lodge near the iconic South Falls. The café is also near the trailhead for the nationally recognized Trail of Ten Falls and the South Falls Day-use Area, which includes picnicking, bicycling and a small swim area, as well as trailheads for shorter hikes.

Smith Creek Village is located at the south end of the park and includes The Ranches, now called Davidson Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch (two separate large overnight facilities with commercial kitchens), 13 cabins and 4 group overnight lodges, as well outdoor event space and historic buildings and meeting areas built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. An additional commercial kitchen that can be used for a conference center restaurant is located in one historic building.

Visit the Silver Falls State Park web page for more information about the park.
