(MEDFORD, Ore.) - Representative Yunker's attack on frontline healthcare professionals—and the laws that give patients more time with their caregivers—would be laughable if the consequences weren't so serious.
Instead of standing with patients and the nurses and staff who care for Southern Oregonians every day, Rep. Yunker has chosen to do the bidding of Asante's out-of-state healthcare executives, who are collecting millions while cutting services, closing hospital departments and clinics, and putting profits ahead of patient care.
Shutting down local physical therapy clinics in Medford and Grants Pass is only the latest example of Asante executives collecting massive personal paychecks while cutting essential local healthcare and blaming workers. Physical therapists and staff at these clinics help Southern Oregonians regain the ability to walk, work and care for their families. This care is essential to keep patients healthy and mobile after illnesses and injuries and restore patients' dignity and independence.
Nurses and healthcare professionals believe our community deserves healthcare that is accessible, affordable and accountable.
