Oregon Housing And Community Services Funds Almost 300 New Affordable Homes Across The State - 08/11/26
SALEM, Ore. — Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) continues to expand housing opportunities, investing in the creation of 293 affordable homes, including 222 rental homes and 71 homes for purchase. Over the past three months, the Oregon Housing Stability Council approved funding for projects in Lincoln City, Bend, Phoenix, Roseburg, and Portland.
"Addressing Oregon's housing crisis requires more pathways to stable, affordable housing in communities throughout the state," said OHCS Executive Director Andrea Bell. "These investments respond to distinct local needs — from helping communities recover from devastating wildfires to creating opportunities for more families to put down roots through homeownership."
Each development responds to the needs of the community it will serve.

Makara Landing in Lincoln City will expand its footprint by building 33 affordable homes for purchase, including five designed with universal accessibility features. The homes are nestled within a wooded neighborhood and offer convenient access to groceries, medical services, recreation, and public transit.

Woodhaven Community Housing will create 38 new affordable homeownership opportunities in Bend. The project includes modern, energy-efficient homes, including six designed for accessibility, supporting long-term stability for Bend’s essential workforce.

Bennu Heights in Phoenix and Green Family Housing in Roseburg will add 163 rental homes in communities affected by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires and straight-line winds, helping advance long-term recovery while expanding local housing supply.

Garfield Commons will bring 59 new affordable apartments to Portland. The location will provide residents with access to public transit, schools, and vital services, fostering a sense of community and promoting walkability and connectivity.
Taken together, the projects demonstrate that addressing Oregon’s housing needs requires more than a single type of housing solution. Affordable rental housing and homeownership, with investments in both rural and urban communities, play an important role in ensuring Oregonians struggling to make ends meet and at all different stages of life can find homes that fit their needs.
