Oregon City School District Names Dr. Sara Deboy As Interim Assistant Superintendent - 06/17/21

Oregon City, OR – The Oregon City School District has selected Dr. Sara Deboy as the interim assistant superintendent effective July 1. Dr. Deboy will continue to oversee the department of Teaching & Learning while serving as the interim assistant superintendent. 

Dr. Deboy was selected as the Associate Director of Teaching & Learning in the Oregon City School District in 2018, then moved to the Director position in 2019. 

“Dr. Deboy brings her expertise and passion for student centered practice and creating systems that promote access and equity to Oregon City. She has worked closely with administrators and teachers to continually challenge our thinking to broaden our perspectives on instructional practice and engagement. She will continue to bring this important perspective to district leadership and the school board,” said Kyle Laier, Interim Superintendent. 

Deboy has 23 years of experience in education. She began her career as a classroom teacher and reading specialist in the Beaverton School District, then moved to Lake Oswego as a building administrator at both elementary and middle schools before coming to Oregon City. 

Dr. Deboy is also adjunct professor at the University of Portland in the School of Education and serves as a Leadership Fellow on the Educator Leadership Network Board. 

Deboy holds a B.A. in writing from the University of Puget Sound and a Masters of Education in Administration from University of Portland.  Dr. Deboy completed her doctorate at the University of Oregon in 2013, engaged in the research of the validity of reading assessments for historically underserved students.
