Oregon Bankers Association And Oregon Business Magazine Present 2020 Community Applause Award To Chambers Construction - 12/21/20
The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA) in partnership with Oregon Business magazine, has announced that Chambers Construction (“Chambers”) of Eugene, Oregon is the recipient of the 2020 Community Applause Award. The Community Applause Award, which is given to an Oregon business in acknowledgment of their significant service and contributions to their community, was presented to Chambers during a banking industry event held on Dec. 7.
Founded in 1996, the Community Applause Award is a competition in which banks doing business in Oregon nominate a business customer that gives back to their community in significant ways. An independent panel of judges carefully reviews each nomination and votes on the winner. Since the award’s inception, 43 Oregon businesses have been recognized, including this year’s honoree.
Chambers Construction is a commercial general contractor founded in 1955 by Richard A. Chambers. Some of Oregon’s finest building projects feature Chambers Construction's superior craftsmanship and mark of quality. Their commitment to community and excellence in all that they do has propelled their success over the years. Chambers is known as a hero in the Eugene area and has a long history of supporting local nonprofits, especially those that help the underserved. In the past year alone, Chambers has provided over $120,000 in cash donations and sponsorships. They have also donated time and materials to nonprofits and fundraised for the Oregon Cancer Foundation. A number of their employees are also involved in the community, volunteering their time on several nonprofit boards.
Chambers Construction was nominated for the Community Applause Award by Jenny Bennett, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Summit Bank. In her nomination, Bennett stated, “Chambers is a hero amongst our community. They go the extra mile to make lives – and everything they build – better. At Summit Bank, we can’t think of a more giving community partner.”
As part of the award, OBA provided Chambers Construction with a $1,000 check payable to the nonprofit Bags of Love in their honor. The funds will help Bags of Love provide necessities and comfort items to children in crisis due to neglect, abuse, poverty, or homelessness. In addition to OBA’s donation, Summit Bank made a donation of $500 to Womenspace, which provides safety, hope, and healing to survivors of intimate partner violence.
