Stacy Rager To Serve As Northwest Regional Education Service District's Next Executive Director Of Early Learning (Photo) - 02/10/23

Stacy Rager, our Columbia Service Center administrator, will be the next executive director of early learning at Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) beginning July 1.

This position oversees Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE), a free community program that provides individualized support to more than 3,000 infants, young children and their families. It also oversees Child Care Resource and Referral, the Northwest Early Learning Hub and Northwest Parenting, three programs in Northwest Oregon that work to strengthen support for children by facilitating partnerships, training, the development of public systems, and other forms of support.

Stacy joined NWRESD in 2013 as a school psychologist, quickly assuming the role as principal of the Beaverton Early Childhood Center. After four years in this position, she went on to serve as the EI/ECSE evaluation coordinator and then Columbia Service Center administrator.

“In her numerous leadership roles, Stacy has built meaningful relationships with families, external partners and staff across our organization,” says Dan Goldman, superintendent. “She is extremely knowledgeable about the technical aspects of early childhood special education and the challenges faced by the region’s early learning systems. We are excited to promote an internal candidate who has shown tremendous dedication and growth throughout her career with us.”

Stacy was selected from a pool of more than 20 applicants by an interview committee that included more than a dozen unique perspectives, including an EI/ECSE parent, a community partner, early learning educators, and organizational leaders. After several rounds of interviews, a community forum introduced two finalists to a crowd of around 150, drawing 90 comments considered for the final decision. In the end, there was unanimous support for Stacy in this important role.

“I’m honored and excited for the opportunity to play a larger role in expanding access to quality preschool and child care across the region,” says Stacy Rager. “It’s especially important for young children experiencing disabilities and others who have been historically excluded from our preschool and child care settings to be afforded the opportunity to learn alongside their friends. This will be our work looking forward.”

Northwest Regional Education Service District is the largest of Oregon’s 19 education service districts. It serves 20 school districts in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook and Washington counties. These school districts serve 98,000 students. Through state funding, contracts, and private and public grants, the agency provides a wide range of special education and specialized services to students, educators and families in the region.
