Northwest Regional Education Service District Hires David Williams As Chief Of Staff (Photo) - 06/02/22

David Williams, the current executive administrator for strategic initiatives at Beaverton School District, will join Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) as chief of staff starting July 1.

“David is a proven education leader and a positive force for Oregon’s children” says Dan Goldman, superintendent. “His well-known success in legislative advocacy and public affairs will now more explicitly benefit each of our 20 school districts in the region.”

In his current role, Williams provides strategic and policy direction to the Beaverton schools community. He serves as the government relations lead, which includes legislative advocacy, local government coordination, and managing relationships with community based organizations, labor unions, national associations, business organizations and others.

“David was instrumental in helping shepherd the landmark Student Success Act legislation from concept to on-the-ground reality in Beaverton,” says Goldman. “We are excited to welcome him to the NWRESD team.”

NWRESD has grown by over 40% employees since 2018 as Oregon’s education service districts are increasingly relied upon to facilitate the implementation of statewide initiatives and legislation. The chief of staff position will ensure the success of strategic initiatives, develop relationships with key partners, and assure statewide and local policies and rules create the conditions for programmatic and student success across NWRESD’s four-county region.

Prior to Beaverton School District, Williams served as the program director for government relations at Portland Public Schools, the legislative and public affairs specialist for the Oregon School Boards Association and research & policy analyst for the Oregon School Employees Association. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in politics from Willamette University and Master of Arts in political science from Boston College. Williams is currently working towards a doctorate in leadership studies and organizational theory at Northwest University where he is studying the link between superintendent leadership and classroom teachers. He is married and has two children, one is finishing his freshman year in high school, the other is completing her sophomore year at DePauw University in Indiana.
