NW Natural's Spirit of Giving Campaign is no Trivial Matter - 12/04/17

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Question: Did NW Natural's employees raise impressive sums for local nonprofits in their 2017 Spirit of Giving campaign? Answer: What is, You bet your bottom dollar!

NW Natural's autumn giving campaign followed a Jeopardy-style theme this year. The campaign inspired its employees and retirees to donate or pledge nearly $120,000. The company's shareholder Corporate Philanthropy Fund matches the donations bringing the annual total to nearly $240,000.

The funds will be distributed to nonprofit partners Black United Fund of Oregon, EarthShare Oregon, United Way, and Work for Art, as well as those selected by individual employees such as The Nature Conservancy, Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) and Central City Concern.

"Our annual Spirit of Giving campaign never is a trivial matter, and our Jeopardy contestants and supporters proved yet again what fun it is to give of ourselves and our dollars," said Von Summers, NW Natural's community affairs manager. "Our 1,100 employees throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington effect positive change every day through our hands-on volunteer work and charitable giving."

NW Natural also runs a program called Dollars for Doers, in which the company makes donations to organizations where employees volunteer. This year's employee-matching program raised more than $16,000.

Summers added: "Our employees are committed to making the communities in which we work and live even more robust."
