PORTLAND AREA MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER IN THE KILLING OF ROMAN SHULISHOV - 10/08/26

Case: 25CR11512                                                                                            October 8, 2026

Portland, OR- A Multnomah County jury convicted Deming Oakleaf, 32-years-old, on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree for killing Roman Shulishov near his Portland area home on February 23, 2025.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Brian Davidson prosecuted the case for the state. After the conviction he said: “The murder of Roman Shulishov was a brutal and senseless act of violence that traumatized the Shulishov family and the community of Fairview.  Hopefully the jury’s verdict will bring some sense of peace and justice to both.”
The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the East County Major Crimes Team and lead agency the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, led by Detective Chris Stephens, for their excellent investigative work on this case, tracking down a car with no license plates, using investigative techniques to identify the killer and seize evidence.
The DA’s Office would also like to highlight the work of MCDA Victim Advocates who give care and comfort to victims in this and other cases.
THE FACTS:
On February 23, 2025 Roman Shulishov returned home from a grocery store trip with his teenage son. As they were unloading, Mr. Shulishov walked down the street and had a conversation with someone in a grey sedan. Video footage from nearby homes showed he stepped back from the sedan and the person inside the sedan fired multiple shots at him, killing Mr. Shulishov.
Using investigative techniques, detectives were able to track the car to a nearby store and identify the driver- Deming Oakleaf.
Sentencing will be held : October 29th
