Portland, OR- Timothy Ray Jones, 55 years old, pleaded guilty today to multiple charges connected with his repeated theft from multiple stores including Plaid Pantry which he stole from 39 different times. 

Jones pleaded guilty to Aggravated Theft in the First Degree, two counts of Organized Retail Theft, two counts of Theft in the First Degree, seven counts of Burglary in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Vehicle.  

Jones has agreed to a sentence of six years and eight months in prison.  

The official sentencing is set for September 11, 2026 at 1:15pm. 

Deputy District Attorney Theresa Turner prosecuted the case for the state. 

After the defendant pleaded guilty, she said: 

“He would go behind the counter as if he had every right to do so and load up on tobacco products filling bags and bags. And he didn’t just do it once. He did it more than 40 times despite being arrested in between many of these incidents. Today was the day that he had to answer for those crimes. He’s going to prison for his conduct. We take crimes like this seriously and when you do something like this in Multnomah County, you will be held accountable.”

THE FACTS: 

The defendant routinely stole from stores like Plaid Pantry over a period that spanned two years. His most recent case 26CR16375 is a good example of his frequent attacks on the stores. On November 27, 2025, he stole more than a thousand dollars in merchandise from a Plaid Pantry store. Two days later, on November 29, 2025, he stole more than a thousand dollars' worth of merchandise again from Plaid Pantry. And on December 1, 2025, he again stole more than a thousand dollars' worth of merchandise from a Plaid Pantry store.  January 25, 2026, he was back and stole more than a thousand dollars' worth of merchandise from a Plaid Pantry store.
