PORTLAND AREA MAN WHO WENT ON VIOLENT ARMED ROBBERY SPREE SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS PRISON - 08/10/26

Portland, OR-Jeffrey Thomas Boone, 44-years-old, was sentenced to 20 years in prison today for a violent series of robberies that terrorized multiple communities.

In case 25CR28260, Boone pleaded guilty to four counts of Robbery in the First Degree with a Firearm, Assault in the First Degree, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

In case 23CR28260 he pled guilty to: Felon in Possession of a Firearm

Multnomah County Deputy District Attorneys Mackenzie Ludwig and Elena Langer prosecuted the case for the State. After the sentencing Ludwig said:

“This was a horrifically violent crime spree that threatened not only the safety and security of the victims but multiple communities. Mr. Boone’s conduct reflected a disregard for the law and perceived invincibility. The sentence imposed demonstrates that these types of crimes receive harshest punishments.”

THE FACTS:

On February 16, 2025, Jeffrey Thomas Boone went on a violent crime spree that lasted from 5:41pm until 6:56pm. He first robbed a Subway shop at 1740 NE 122^nd Ave. During the robbery he grabbed one worker by the neck and put a gun to the back of their neck, demanding they empty the cash register drawer.

Next, Boone went to a neighboring home where the homeowner had just returned with his children. Boone demanded the car keys from the man, who handed them over. Boone could not start the car, so he ran down the street to another home and entered through the unlocked door.

Boone demanded the keys from the man inside the second home, who worried for the safety of his wife and young child, so he handed over keys. Boone tried to find the right car for the keys but failed. Instead, Boone went down the street until he saw a GMC Yukon SUV driving in his direction.

Boone pointed his gun at the driver and forced him out from behind the wheel. Boone took off driving the stolen Yukon. Police were now on the scene and began to chase Boone. The pursuit quickly became too dangerous and so the officer broke from the chase, instead calling for cover.

At NE 36^th and NE Morris Street, Boone drove the Yukon into another car and then drove in front of that same car to stop it. He jumped out of the Yukon and demanded the woman driving to get out. Boone tried to steal that car, but the woman had the keys in her pocket and ran to a nearby house for help.

Boone continued drive to the 2500 block of NE Killingsworth Street where he approached a woman unloading groceries and again, demanded car keys. Boone hit her in the head with his gun and stole her car.

Boone drove her car into Vancouver, Washington where he is alleged to have burglarized another home before stealing a white pickup truck he used to flee to Marion County, Oregon.

Finally, an Oregon State Police Trooper spotted the pickup and pursued Boone. Boone eventually crashed the pickup, fled on foot, but was caught by law enforcement. Officers found Boone had a gun. Items from the various burglaries and robberies in Multnomah County were found in the pickup truck. The entire crime spree in Multnomah County happened over an hour and 20 minutes total.
