PROLIFIC BURGLAR AND BIKE THIEF SENT TO PRISON - 04/01/26

 

 

Cases: 24CR54809; 25CR59019; 26CR16538 


 

Portland, OR- Daniel Dean Gallagher, 32-years-old, was sentenced to 65 months prison (5 years and 5 months) after he pled guilty to six counts of Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree on March 30, 2026. He was also sentenced to three years post prison supervision. 

 

From 2023 to 2026 Mr. Gallagher entered multiple different apartment complexes in the Pearl District and inner Southeast Portland. Mr. Gallagher manipulated door sensors and locks with burglar tools  in order to access controlled areas in the apartment complexes. Mr. Gallagher stole items from the apartment manager’s offices, bike rooms, and other storage units in the apartment complex. There were over fifteen incidents linked to Mr. Gallagher. 

 

Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Aileen Santoyo prosecuted the case for the state. After the guilty plea and sentencing she said: 

 

“Mr. Gallagher caused a significant amount of economic loss to the residents of Portland. Many people had their bikes stolen and their personal property tampered with. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and I hope that Mr. Gallagher learns from this process and does not continue down the same path when he is eventually released.” 

 

The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank Portland Police Officers, Elliot Walker, Casey McCleod, Donald Mathews, JP Duque-Valencia, and Jackson Oldham.
