The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Portland Police Bureau, specifically Detective Nathan Wollstein, for his work on this case. We would also like to thank DA Investigator Heather Hughes and victim advocate Amina Dureti for their thoughtful and compassionate work with the victims.

DA Nathan Vasquez said, “Today’s sentencing of 50 years brings long-awaited accountability for Zachary Andrews, a serial predator who inflicted profound harm on multiple victims. While no prison term can undo the trauma he caused, this outcome ensures he can no longer hurt others. We are grateful to the survivors whose courage and testimony brought the truth to light. We would also like to thank SDDA Robin Skarstad who prosecuted this case for the state, Detective Wollstein, DA Investigator Heather Hughes and Victim Advocate, Amina Dureti who fought tirelessly for justice. Our community is safer today because of their strength and commitment.

THE FACTS:

Zachery Lee Andrews (also known as Cadillac), forcibly raped and strangled three houseless women in their tents.

On October 24, 2021, the first victim reported that she had been strangled and violently raped in her tent by Mr. Andrews who became more abusive as she attempted to resist by kicking and screaming. She told officers and medical personnel that she could not breathe while being choked. She had visible scratch marks and abrasions on her neck.

On March 29, 2022, Mr. Andrews raped and sodomized a second victim in her tent, while she struggled to resist him. He also punched and strangled her. Mr. Andrews admitted the allegations, but said that she liked "force play."

On October 1, 2022 Mr. Andrews raped and strangled a third houseless victim. She reported Mr. Andrews picked her up, put her in her tent and forcibly raped her inside the tent, where he held her against her will for 12 hours. Mr. Andrews admitted that the victim yelled "no," "help," and "rape" during the attack. He told police she also had a "force fantasy" and wanted him to hold her down and choke her. The victim said that she knew Mr. Andrews by his street name, Cadillac.
