Mt. Angel Announces Changes To Programs And Community Events Following State COVID-19 Guidance -03/18/20

March 18, 2020

The City of Mt. Angel is following Governor Brown's guidance and new rules addressing large gatherings and social distancing designed to slow the spread of COVID-19.

To help slow the spread of COVID-19 and reduce opportunities for continued transmission of the virus, we are making changes to some of our programs and services.

Until further notice the City will be suspending advisory board and commission meetings, and community events and activities including the April 6th City Council Meeting, Police ride-a-longs, and Library programs like story times.

The City will continue to provide emergency response, public safety and other essential services, including water service to all customers.

Other services and programs will be impacted, including:

  • Mt. Angel Municipal Court. City of Mt. Angel Municipal Court which was originally scheduled for 6:00 PM on Wednesday March 18, 2020 has been re-scheduled for May 20, 2020 at 6:00 PM.  If you have a question about Municipal Court please call 503-845-9291. 
  • Mt. Angel Public Library.  In response to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, out of an abundance of caution and the desire to keep our patrons safe and healthy, the Mt. Angel Library is closed to the public.  ALL scheduled library programs are CANCELLED until further notice. All overdue fines will be suspended.
  • Mt. Angel Police Department.  The Mt. Angel Police Department is committed to providing high quality law enforcement services to our public.  In an effort to minimize possible exposure and to protect essential emergency services, we will be implementing a temporary modification in call response and services. 

           The office (Police Lobby) will be closed to the public and the Administrative Assistant will conduct business via                    phone.  When customers come to the office, they will be directed to call the police department directly if able, or to              pick up the vestibule phone and have dispatch transfer the call to the Administrative Assistant.                     

           The Mt. Angel Police Department will continue to respond to emergency (911) calls, however, when possible, non-              priority calls will be taken by phone. 

  • Mt. Angel City Hall. We are also encouraging those who can accomplish City business without coming to City offices to do so.   CITY HALL'S LOBBY WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC until further notice however, STAFF ARE PRESENT AND ABLE TO HELP YOU; please knock on the door if you need assistance. (Intercom system to be installed shortly)

UTILITY PAYMENTS can be made as follows:

Checks and cash - place in envelope with your address and/or account number indicated and deposit in mail slot in door OR the drop box located at the bottom of the stairs. If paying with cash, please note that we are unable to make change.

Credit and debit cards – Staff are currently able to take credit and or debit card payments or you may use Express Bill Pay at xpressbillpay.com. While this website is currently experiencing technical difficulties, we are told that it is functioning normally if accessed prior to 7 a.m. or after 4 p.m. You can also make a phone payment by calling Express Bill Pay at 800. 766.2350.

  • Mt. Angel Public Works.  Public works department staff will continue to maintain and operate all of our City services, while following the guidelines of our health authorities.

The City of Mt. Angel has been coordinating with the Oregon Health Authority and Marion County Public Health for our preparations for and response to COVID 19. They are the public health authorities for our area.
