News Release
Extra Patrol for Distracted Driving 04/30/21 - 04/29/21

On April 30th, Molalla Police Department will be conducting additional patrols focused on distracted driving.

From 2014-2018 there were 22,410 fatal and injury crashes resulting in 137 fatalities and 21,027 injuries caused by crashes involving a distracted driver in Oregon (all ages). Of those, 1,969 fatal and injury crashes involving a driver (all ages) reported to have been using a cell phone at the time of the crash: 18 fatalities and 1,755 people injured. 151 of the fatal or injury crashes involved youth 16 to 18 years old resulting in 182 injuries.

The Molalla Police Department wants to remind drivers of the dangers of distracted driving. Distracted driving not only affects the driver or operator of the vehicle but all other citizens on the roadway and in the community.

The goal of the Molalla Police Department is to ensure the roads in and around the City of Molalla are safe for everyone and to prevent avoidable tragedies.
