Officers Locate Suspect With Thermal Camera Drone

On September 18th at approximately midnight, residents on the 8800 block of SE Rockvorst Street in the Ardenwald neighborhood called 911 to report a male banging on the door, yelling and holding a tool or weapon. The residents reported they did not know the male subject. As Officers were enroute, the callers reported the male was throwing rocks at the house, breaking windows. The residents were retreating further into the house.
Officers arrived and learned the suspect had fled toward a greenspace near the home. After swiftly reviewing the home’s surveillance footage, Officers set up a perimeter in the last known direction of travel along with a good description of the male suspect. , Officers learned several windows were shattered totaling more than $2000 in damage.
With the aid of a thermal camera equipped drone, Officers quickly located the male, identified at Jason M. Treichler 33, transient, in a wooded area close by. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on Criminal Mischief I.
Surveillance footage was key in the quick resolution of this incident. Along with motion lights or fixed lighting, the Milwaukie Police Department encourages residents to consider web-based security cameras facing areas sensitive areas or access points to property or structures. MiPD case 26-5317
