Crash Between E-motorcycle And Vehicle On The 17th Ave. Path

On August 30th at approximately 12:45 PM, Milwaukie Officers were called to an unknown if injury accident between a juvenile on an electric motorcycle and a vehicle. Officers arrived and learned an adult driver who was attempting to turn into the Milwaukie pioneer cemetery on SE 17th Ave. collided with the e-motorcycle. The juvenile was knocked off the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet. The juvenile was alert, walking and speaking and was transported to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution. The driver reported the e-motorcycle was travelling at a perceived higher speed than expected.
While Officers were evaluating the scene along with Clackamas Fire, the e-motorcycle had a malfunction and began to smoke and catch on fire. Police set a safety perimeter while Clackamas Fire crews managed and extinguished the thermal runaway fire.

The investigation is ongoing, at present no citations have been issued in this incident. The Milwaukie Police would remind residents, unregistered e-motor cycles are not permitted on streets, sidewalks or city parks – private property with permission only.
