Crash On 99E Causes Serious Injuries. Police Seek Witnesses. - 11/12/21

CRASH ON 99E CAUSES SERIOUS INJURIES. POLICE SEEK WITNESSES

 

On 10/31/2021 at 1:27 pm, Milwaukie Police responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Highway 99E at the SE Ochoco Street intersection. Both drivers and one passenger were transported by AMR to local hospitals for evaluation and care. Travel on Highway 99E was limited to one lane in each direction while the Clackamas County Crash Reconstruction and Forensics Team documented the crash scene.

During the investigation, it was discovered that 68-year-old Susan Gray was driving a 2020 Subaru Forester with 81-year-old Valerie Gray in the front passenger seat. Susan Gray was driving east-bound on SE Ochoco Street and crossing the intersection to turn north onto Highway 99E. Susan Gray’s vehicle was struck on the front driver’s side of the vehicle by a 2014 Dodge caravan operated by 33-year-old Logan Melchert. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage to their front ends.

Susan Gray and Valerie Gray both suffered serious injuries but are expected to fully recover. Mr. Melchert was discharged from the hospital with minor injuries before follow-up could be conducted by investigators and is being investigated for Assault III, DUII, and Reckless Driving.
