On 2/11/19 at approximately 11:00 pm, the Milwaukie Police Department was notified that a former Rowe Middle School student had text messaged a friend saying he was considering hiring someone to kill two staff members and one student at Rowe Middle School.
The Milwaukie Police identified the suspect, contacted him at his home and interviewed him. He indicated he was not serious about the threats. He was taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center, where the protocol for a threat assessment was followed. School staff were notified of the threats and the subsequent investigation.
The Milwaukie Police Department does not believe there is any further credible threat to the safety of anyone at Rowe Middle School. North Clackamas School District has confirmed that the student is not currently attending any NCSD school. As a precautionary measure, a Milwaukie Police Officer is on the campus this morning.
We will continue to work closely with school staff throughout any related follow-up and appreciate our partnership with them and their responsiveness.
