Milwaukie Police respond to Vehicle vs Bicyclist Accident. - 07/10/18

On 07-09-18, around 12:00 p.m., Milwaukie Police responded to 5990 SE King Road regarding a vehicle vs bicyclist accident.

Police arrived on-scene and contacted the bicyclist, 50-year-old Mia Rex, and the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Dylan Hallberg.

Through the police investigation, it was determined Ms. Rex was traveling east on SE King Road, in the bike lane, on an electric assisted bicycle, traveling around 20-MPH. Mr. Hallberg, who works for Waste Management, was driving a company garbage truck and had just exited the Greenbrier Apartments, 5902 SE King Road. Mr. Hallberg then immediately turned right into the King Court Mobile Park, 5990 SE King Road. Ms. Rex crashed into the rear passenger tires of the garbage truck, as it turned into the trailer park complex.

Ms. Rex suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Milwaukie Providence.  No citations were issued at this time, as the investigation is on-going.

Milwaukie Police would like to remind all drivers and bicyclist to be aware of your surroundings at all times, use caution when turning and be prepared to stop/yield to right of way traffic.
