Metro West Ambulance Announces Leadership Transition - 10/19/22

JD Fuiten, owner and President of Metro West Ambulance Services, Inc.  announces his succession plan is underway. Current Metro West Chief Operating Officer Shawn Baird will be taking on responsibility for day-to-day management of Metro West Ambulance and today (October 19th), moved into the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position. 

“This has been in the works for quite some time, and as I celebrated another birthday last week, I am excited to see Shawn step into the top position at Metro West and lead the company into the next generation of prehospital healthcare," stated JD Fuiten.

Shawn Baird owned Woodburn Ambulance for 25 years before joining MWA 3 years ago.  Shawn is the current national President of the American Ambulance Association. He has served on the National EMS Advisory Council, Oregon Public Health Advisory Board, and numerous other leadership roles. He was recognized by the State of Oregon Health Authority EMS Section when he was honored with the Directors Medal in 2019. He earned a Master of Arts in Leading Innovation and Change from York St. John University (UK) in 2014 and maintains an active Oregon Paramedic license.

Shawn states, “It is exciting to take MWA in a new direction! I am looking forward to working with our partners in fire, public health, and medicine to not only tackle today’s challenges, but to develop a dynamic new ambulance system of the future here in Washington County.”

Metro West Ambulance’s main headquarters is located in Hillsboro, Oregon. Our Family of Companies includes multiple ambulance services and a brokerage across the PNW.  Medical care and services provided by Metro West include emergency and non-emergency ambulance services, ICU RN level critical care transport, Secure Transport for behavioral health patients, industrial/occupational health services, mobile integrated health/community paramedicine including virtual/hospital at home patients, wheelchair services and event services.
