Suspect Arrested in Overnight Burglaries (Photo) - 02/16/18

During the early morning hours of Friday, February 16th at about 2:00 am, the Medford Police Department responded to the report of a business alarm at the Minute Market located at E. Main Street/Hawthorn Street. Officers arrived and discovered no evidence of a crime at this business, but did observe damage to the nearby Dutch Bro's coffee stand and the Nu Way Cleaners across the street. As officers were starting to investigate these possible burglaries, they observed a male running from the area carrying a large amount of property in his arms. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect and were able to apprehend him after a short chase. The suspect was in possession of property stolen from multiple nearby businesses. Entry was made in each of these instances by the suspect breaking glass to the door of the business.

Opal Tree Skin Care -- 800 Block of East Main Street

Suspect:
Collier, Matthew James
29 Years Old
Medford, Transient

The suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Burglary in the 2nd Degree (x4), Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree (x4) and Theft in the 1st Degree. Medford Police Case #'s 18-3340 and 18-3346.
