Detectives Investigating Shooting In East Salem **Update 1** - 03/10/22
Detectives are continuing to investigate a shooting which occurred on Hayesville Drive NE near Reimann Street NE on March 9th, 2022. One victim with critical injuries was taken by ambulance from the scene to an area hospital where he later died because of his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Eduardo Garcia (20) of Salem. An autopsy was performed earlier today, March 10th, 2022, where the manner of death was determined to be homicide caused by gunshot wound. The family of the victim has requested privacy during this time to grieve their loss.
Investigators are continuing to follow investigative leads; no arrests have been made at this time. On March 9th, 2022, at shortly before 5:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of Hayesville Drive NE near Reimann Street NE in the unincorporated area of East Salem after a 911 caller reported a shooting that had just occurred. When first responders arrived in the area, one victim was located with serious injuries. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit have been called out to investigate the incident. This is an active investigation; no arrests in connection with the shooting have been made. Information about the victim in the shooting and their medical status is not available for release at this time.
