Two Injured In Daytime Shooting (Update - 9/26/21) (Photo) -09/26/21

Investigators have arrested two Salem area men in connection with the September 25, 2021, shooting on Tide Court NE.  Victor Ventura (19) and Alejandro Ramirez Jr. (20) were taken into custody by detectives and have been lodged at the Marion County Jail.  Both men are being held on charges including:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Assault in the First Degree (2 counts)
  • Assault in the Second Degree (2 counts)

Ventura and Ramirez are scheduled to be arraigned on September 27th, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex.

At just after 1:00 p.m. today, September 25th, 2021, a 911 caller reported a shooting on Tide Court NE near Surfwood Drive NE in the unincorporated area of Salem. Initial reports indicated at least two people were injured and a vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.

Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office along with other local and state law enforcement responded to the area.  Multiple people have been detained by law enforcement officials in connection with the shooting and the vehicle reported to have fled the scene has been located.

A 10 year-old male was taken to the hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries.  The second known victim, a 31 year-old male, is in stable condition.

Due to this being an active investigation no additional information is available for release at this time.  Community members who may have information about this incident are asked to submit tips online.

The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted on this response by multiple agencies including the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, Keizer Police Department, Marion County Fire District #1, Oregon State Police, Salem Police Department, Stayton Police Department, and Willamette Valley Communications Center.
