News Release
Brooklake Road Closed Overnight for Fatal Hit and Run Investigation ***Update - Victim Identified*** - 07/09/20

On July 7th, 2020, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were called to a fatal hit and run in the 4800 block of Brooklake Road NE.  Investigators have identified the victim as Scottie Parker, 38, from the Salem area.  Detectives are asking for anyone who may have information about the crash to call our non-emergency number at 503-588-5032.

********Original Release from July 8th, 2020********

On July 7th, 2020, at approximately 10:34 pm, deputies were called to the 4800 block of Brooklake Road NE to the report of an unconscious person lying in the road.  While waiting for emergency responders to arrive at the scene, the anonymous caller reported witnessing a white 2000’s Chevrolet Camaro leave the scene after running over the man.  Marion County Fire District #1 arrived on scene while deputies were still responding and determined the victim was deceased.

The victim, an adult male in his 30’s, is not being identified at this time pending notification of their next of kin.

Brooklake Road was closed to traffic until just after 4:00 am while investigators from the Marion County Multi-Agency CRASH Team processed the scene.  Investigators are asking anyone with information about the hit and run, including the original anonymous caller, to contact the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 503-588-5032.
